Sustainability Policy
Griffiths & Armour recognises the importance of operating in a sustainable way to:
Minimise our environmental impact |
Support our colleagues, clients and the wider community |
Ensure the safety, wellbeing and diversity of our workforce |
|
Guide our overarching business ethics and practices |
Our insurance broking, claims and risk management services enable a wide range of organisations including charities, public bodies, building societies, educators, manufacturers, consultants and professional advisors to protect their employees, assets and earnings and improve their performance on sustainability.
This in turn enables them to:
Continue to provide and develop their products and services |
Reduce their environmental impacts |
Support their employees, customers and other stakeholders |
Contribute to the community and general economy |
Our broad ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) aims and objectives are aligned to the United Nations Global Compact ten principles for corporate sustainability; which in turn support the United Nations 17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
The ten principles can be summarised as follows:
Human Rights
Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights. Businesses should make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses. |
Labour
Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining. The elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour. The effective abolition of child labour. The elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation. |
Environment
Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges. Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility. Businesses should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies. |
Anti-Corruption
|
Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery. |
We consider legal compliance to be the minimum standard and will continuously strive for improvements in performance on ESG matters. In order to achieve our aims and objectives on ESG Griffiths & Armour commits to providing suitable resources and expertise in all relevant disciplines.
A formal management body is also established for ESG, whose remit includes:
- Strategic planning and decision making
- Risk assessment
- Supplier vetting
- Training provision
- Measurement, KPIs and targets
- Reporting
- Review and audit
We also look to build close connections and relationships within our community and our proud to support our chosen charity partners, further information on which is available here.
We encourage all colleagues, clients and our supply chain to play their part to improve sustainability.
