Caroline Murphy Award | Griffiths & Armour

Griffiths & Armour’s Hasan Temeldasi receives the Caroline Murphy Award, recognising outstanding contribution to the community

Griffiths & Armour, together with the Insurance Institute of Liverpool, is happy to announce that the Caroline Murphy Award for 2023 has been awarded to Hasan Temeldasi.

Hasan joined Griffiths & Armour in 2014 and is jointly responsible for facilities management for the Group. A well-liked and much respected member of the team, Hasan always delivers above and beyond in his role – nothing is too much trouble and his supportive and proactive attitude makes him a pleasure to work alongside.

The Caroline Murphy Award publicly recognises outstanding contributions to local communities, charities or volunteering work, and this year we applaud Hasan’s long-standing commitment to support communities, both in Liverpool and in Turkey.

Taking the lead in organising a hugely successful weekend school for children to learn Turkish in 2016, Hasan brought together teachers, resources and participants and found a safe place for classes to be held. The school provided an opportunity for local parents to meet new people and ran for many years having such a positive impact.

More recently, the catastrophic damage and humanitarian need in Turkey and Syria following the devastating earthquakes has prompted Hasan to organise donations and support within the local community. Using his free time to collect donations of clothes through family, friends and work colleagues, he has organised essential items to be transported to help and support communities.

Matt Donnelly, Partner and Group Chief Executive, General Insurance Division at Griffiths & Armour said:

“Hasan is such a worthy winner of the Caroline Murphy Award. His commitment to supporting others is inspirational, and we’re proud that he is part of the Griffiths & Armour family. Well-deserved Hasan, we all celebrate and support your achievement.”

Dominic Murphy, Caroline’s husband, added:

“The Caroline Murphy Award is all about Caz’s zest for life and her positivity, commitment and determination to support those around her. We were so impressed with Hasan’s dedication in supporting communities and bringing people together, such a deserving winner for 2023.”

Jack Steel, President of the Insurance Institute of Liverpool said:

“We had so many fantastic nominations for this year, it’s always quite a task to pick just one worthy winner, but we all felt that Hasan’s outstanding commitment to local communities, both in the UK and further afield, deserves recognition from the insurance industry and all his peers. Congratulations Hasan.”

About the Caroline Murphy Award

Caroline Murphy, or ‘Caz’ to friends, was a consummate professional with a can-do ‘glass half full’ attitude throughout her career and life. Caroline started her career in insurance by joining Griffiths & Armour in 1992 where she would eventually be promoted to Associate Director and lead G&A’s Private Clients team.

Whilst Caroline’s professionalism was second to none, what made Caroline stand out from the crowd was her zest for life, her sense of loyalty to her husband, sons Liam and Luke, family and friends and her incredible giving personality. Her positivity, commitment, and determination to support those around her was truly unique. Caroline had a gift. She spotted the potential in others, sometimes before they even knew it themselves, and often with little or no recognition would do whatever she could to help them reach their potential.

The Caroline Murphy Award celebrates the people in the insurance industry who espouse the virtues that Caz demonstrated every day, people who put others before themselves and live their lives to the full.

The recipient of the Award is presented with a cash donation for their chosen charity.
