Griffiths & Armour were delighted to welcome back Regeneration Brainery students to our Liverpool offices, offering insight into a career in insurance. The students (‘Brainees’) were joined by colleagues from across our General Insurance and Professional Indemnity Construction Teams to showcase the relevance and importance of insurance within the property and construction industry.
Regeneration Brainery is a social enterprise and non-profit academy that works with young people across the UK, with a mission to make the property and construction sectors more inclusive, diverse, and accessible.
Founded in 2017, the organisation now supports around 4,000 young people nationwide. By partnering with a wide range of industry specialists, it helps participants explore careers in property and regeneration—as well as the many connected pathways, including insurance. Through practical insight and meaningful guidance, Regeneration Brainery equips young people with the knowledge and confidence they need as they take their first steps into working life. Through its Brainees programme, Regeneration Brainery provides week-long academies, mentoring, and practical experiences that introduce young people to careers in property and the built environment. This helps bridge the gap between education and employment and develops a diverse future talent pipeline.
The Brainees took part in an exciting game of ‘Discover Risk’ in which the concepts of risk and hazard were explained and provided a fun way for the students to learn. The results were close, however, the aptly named ‘May the Policy be With You’ poached the win!
Following this, the Brainees were tasked with completing a risk and hazard map assessment of the local area, focusing on the existing real estate and ongoing development schemes in place. This was to assist the Brainees in their final presentation, in which they were tasked with presenting a newly concepted idea – project to redevelop the Kings Dock site, here in Liverpool. Many of the Brainees utilised their newfound knowledge of the insurance industry within their projects, being able to demonstrate how integral this is to construction and property.
As Regeneration Brainery provide an the Brainees with valuable work experience and insight into their future, Griffiths & Armour hosted an employability session with the young people which covered, CV building, building their network and creating opportunities.
